Emerging Fashion Trends

The fashion industry is reporting several fun fashion trends for spring and summer 2008. Some of these trends may fit with your own vision for your business. According to fashion gurus, you'll see all of these trends having a big impact on sales in the fashion industry.

Modern Art
Think pop art, Pucci prints, color block patterns, graphic prints, resin jewelry and colorful and shiny patent leather.

Silver
In spring 2008, silver is not just for jewelry. Grey will be an important neutral color, and the flash of metallic silver will add just the right punch. You'll see silver in handbags, belts, scarves, leg wear and, of course, jewelry.

Picnic in the Country
Imagine an idyllic picnic in the country, and you'll be on target with this look. Gingham, combined with images of flowers (sunflowers, daisies), insects (bees, dragonflies, ladybugs) and fruits (berries, cherries, apples, lemons) are central to this trend.

Jungle Safari
The environment is clearly at the top of everyone's minds, and that movement even translates into fashion trends. Earthy colors like greens and browns with a flash of bright color (imagine a tropical rainforest) form the basis of this trend. Motifs using images of leaves, exotic birds and flowers and jungle animal prints are combined with natural materials such as wood beads and bamboo.

Remember, you're not just a part of the craft industry. If your line includes accessories or clothing, you are also part of the fashion industry, so being aware of trends and developments in that industry can be beneficial to your business. Watch for the development of these trends and consider how you might use them to market your own unique items.

Online Craft Business Resource

If you want to be ahead of the curve when it comes to trends in accessories, Accessories is a great resource. In addition to emerging accessories trends, the magazine also reports on business information geared towards larger retailers, which may or may not be of interest to you, depending on the nature of your business and your long term goals.

Even if that information is not as relevant to your business, the trend forecasting is great. If creating on-trend items is important to you, this magazine is an excellent source of information.
