Act Like You're at the Office When Working from Home

One of the things that I found extremely important when I started working from home was that I actually got up and got dressed and went to an area in my home every day that I had set up for work and worked almost exclusively in that area.

When I first started working from home I thought, great I can work in my pajamas all day and watch tv when I want. Well I did that for a while but what I found was that I was not getting a enough of my work done. So I decided to start getting up and getting dressed everyday like I was going to an office. What I found was that I got much more work accomplished.

Something else that's very important is that you stop working at a set time everyday because if you don't you wind up working much longer hours than you would if you worked in an office. You find yourself doing work at night because it's convenient and if the phone rings at 5:00 PM you find yourself answering it and winding up working late.

Working at home can be wonderful but establishing boundaries are very very important. So no tv, no pajamas and no working at night.
