If You Make It, They Will Come... and buy it!

This is one of the purse patterns I sell on Etsy in my shop: www.hectanooga.etsy.com

I never thought that I would be selling some of the crafty things that I make to people as far away as Australia and England! (I live in Canada, on the small province of Nova Scotia.)

But that is exactly what I am doing, because I have my own shop on Etsy.

I often thought about starting a web site.. but I am in my 60's,.. and I just barely get by on the computer... so just exactly how was I going to do that? (Oh, and did I mention.... I am frugal... so I don't want to pay someone to design a website for me.)

Well, Etsy has it all figured out. Their techies are know-it-alls.... and I LOVE IT!!!

It just goes to show you, that their know-how brought them 12 million dollars in sales last month! (That's March, 2009) And they do that by charging 20 cents to list an item in your shop, and a small transaction fee, (around 3.5%) when you sell!

Sometimes, 20 minutes after I post an item in my shop, I hear my email signal notifying me that I have email.... and it's from Etsy... saying that I have a sale... and it's the item that I just listed. (For people like me... who are night-owls.. as many crafters are... that is sometimes at 2 a.m.... because it's not 2 a.m. in Australia, or Hawaii, or England. 24 hours a day, someone is shopping on Etsy.

If you have always wanted to have your own shop, this is by far the easiest method of doing it.
(I have done the craft show venue for many years, but now, I am seriously considering giving it up... or going.... but just for the fun of it... it's just so much easier to do it- on Etsy.)
