The first step is to "load" your brainstorm for everyone who will be participating. You will need to gather all of the relevant information about your business including names and photographs of your product, customer, business model, founders, geographic location, etc. it also handy to have a Latin/Greek dictionary.
The second step is to "load" your brainstorm with a series of questions or topics. For naming, consider the following topics:
- images associated with the business
- people names
- place names
- sounds
- qualities or personality traits
These free-form brainstorms should get things started. The next topics are more directed:
- what would the business be if it were a fill in the blank? animal? color? season? food?
During the third step, the brainstorm, the goal will be generate a large volume of ideas, words, parts of words, etc.
The fourth step is to have everyone in the brainstorm make a list of their five most favorite concepts or names, and then record the preferences.
At this point a review of the brainstorm output should provide avenues for further brainstorms, or perhaps the perfect name for your business is already amongst those first ideas!
